Reflection

This week's lecture demonstrated the use of flow graph, which makes the environment much more volatile and dynamic. I've applied a area trigger into mine which would explode when a player step on it. Overall it it was interesting to see the internal side of cryengine beyond the pretty outside.

Week 5

1. Write a paragraph describing your strategy for the concealing and the revealing of your letter / number combination, to be embedded into your island.

My letter and numbers are G 2, my plan to conceal the message is mainly using layer painter and Terran manipulation to hide those messages,

From macro to micro
- the river that runs in my island will be shaped into the symbols, can only be seen at 1 angle
- Textures on the ground and trees representing numbers, can only be seen from 1 angle
- blur symbols hidden behind waterfalls
- formation of pebbles
- Paint on rock face

3. Complete a full draft of the outcomes required for EXP1. See the OUTPUTS section of the EXP1 brief for what is required; a full draft includes all of those outputs. While each of the outputs might not be finished they do need to present a clear indication of the strengths and opportunities of the scheme.

4. In approximately 50 words reflect on this weeks lecture and make a specific observation regarding its content as it relates to your own work.

Reflection

This week's lecture was interesting as an array of techniques used to conceal and convey letters and numbers, it definitely gave me a lot of insight on how I can apply those ideas into my project.

Week 4

Skyboxes

Crying Video

Reflection

This week's lecture was on how different weather settings and stuff like tornado can be added into the query engine, those effects could provoke different mood, by applying a variety of different weather effects and sky boxes, and it really brings the island to life.

Reflection

This week's lecture provided an insight into how the earlier people viewed the world, and what does art mean to them, it was interesting to see the how revolutionary an image of a building viewed from a bird's eye view was, yet it is taken for granted today.

Week 1

5 things about the Sandbox folder structure

1. Game and editors are in the bin files, Using the bin 64 if you have a 64 bit computer will allow perform faster and allows more memory.

2. Tools folder contains all the plugin stuff, make sure SettingsMgr has the green light.

3. Copys of System.cfg, user.cfg can be made to turn of effects of the cryengine like movtion blur etc.

4. Pak files in game contains everything of a game, from animes to cgf files, sound, particle etc.

5. Code and Editor, more sophisticated stuff
Localization, LogBackups, Temp & TestResults, not that useful.

Customising The Editor

1. Turn on the console shows all the commands.
2. Config spac to lower the system requirements so can work faster on lower end machines.
3. All the ediotr panels are under view
4. save layout can used to save your personal UI settings.

3. Crtl + p = turn off ai physics
4. crtl +1 = follow terran.
5. Crtl+f1 = save camera position, shift f1= load

Reflection

The introduction into gaming engine sandbox was interesting as I got to see how games are made, and i was amazed at the amount of poly required to make stuff look realistic, all and all looking forward to create my own levels.
